Describe The Guitar Order

Learning Classical Guitar The Right Way

Beginners can sometimes feel overwhelmed when they start learning classical guitar. The technique, sight reading, interpretation and the whole complexity of the experience can make one feel a bit anxious about what proper steps should be taken to gain visible results. It doesn’t help that classical music as a whole conjures up images of snobbish people that aren’t very interested in letting someone in their private circles.

Well, it’s not like that at all. Learning classical guitar can be fun and rewarding if you keep in mind the things we will be discussing in this article. and no, it’s not mandatory to wear your tuxedo, pull out a monocle and start speaking in a "highbrow" tone.

Jumping straight into complicated material is one of the biggest mistakes that beginners make and it leads only to frustration. Imagine for a second that you are trying to work on your car’s engine with the blueprint in front of you. Now, if you have never taken an auto mechanic course and don’t know much about how engines work you won’t get very far. You might be able to figure out where certain parts are by looking at the blueprint but you’ll have no idea what exactly they do and how you should fix them.Describe The Order

If your car engine would be your guitar playing, then your blueprints would be the sheet music. But there is another component that must be brought into the mix for things to work. Either take classical guitar lessons or teach yourself using a classical guitar method such as the one by Mateo Carcassi or Sagreras.

These books have been written in such a way as to gradually give you tangible results. Because they are method books, they teach the student in a progressive and correct way, and as a result you may find yourself tackling your favorite piece easily and with great results. They use exercises as well as "studies" (musical pieces devoted to teaching you a certain technique) to build your technical as well as interpretative skills. Besides teaching technique, methods also facilitate intimate knowledge of your instrument, which is just a fancy way of saying that you will know your guitar inside and out. But can you really teach yourself classical guitar? Yes, you can. Two of the greatest classical guitar players ever, Tarrega and Segovia, where self taught.

In the beginning it is a good idea to spend 1000 at least half of your practice time doing exercises. This will help you become more limber on the guitar and you will also see great progress in the pieces you’re working on.

After you get a classical guitar method and you start working it, the next step is getting some material so you can build your repertoire. Pick carefully so that you balance your own personal taste with the level of the piece. In other words, the piece you choose should be one that you like and at the level that you can handle technically.

You may go to a gym wanting to be Arnold Schwarzenegger, however trying to weight lift 250 pounds when you can barely get 70 pounds off the ground isn’t the way to do it. If you do attempt it, instead of bigger muscles you will probably end up in the hospital. It’s the same thing that’s happening when you attempt to play pieces that are way above your current level. Having said that, it should be noted that it’s good to get pieces that challenge you a little bit. This makes you grow. You will have to use your good judgment as to what constitutes challenging. Just like getting a hernia isn’t a muscle building technique, playing way above your level will only lead to failure and frustration.

Because of the nature of baroque music and of his compositions, Bach’s works are extremely conducive towards gaining great balance and technique on the instrument. Therefore, any student would benefit immensely by learning from the master’s material. Bach’s pieces are also great for developing great tone and they are fun to play. For example: Prelude BWV999 (originally for lute), while incredibly beautiful in its sound is also great for working with the fretboard hand because it is based on a series of chord progressions combined with a loosely melodic bass line.

If you don’t own a metronome, GET ONE! Learn to play slow and in time with it. This way you will form all the right reflexes and once you move the material up to speed the difference will be clear. Arguably, mastering rhythm with a metronome is an essential quality that will separate the amateur from the pro. To the people that may scoff at this and not understand the true importance of working with a metronome, think of it this way: imagine something as simple as a person walking across a hallway. If I ask you to describe them you would probably tell me what they looked like, what they had on and so forth. Now imagine another person walking across the hallway, but this guy is very shaky on his feet, he sometimes double steps, stumbles and flails his hands about trying to keep balance while walking. If I asked you to describe this guy, you’d probably tell me that he had a crazy walk, and he couldn’t walk straight etc.. That would be the impression that would stick with you. Same with your rhythm skills. If you don’t master them, people won’t be able to remember or appreciate your playing because their attention will constantly be distracted by the tempo stumbling and bumbling about.

If you follow the steps noted above you will see great improvement in your overall classical guitar playing. Not only will this affect your playing but also your enjoyment of the instrument. As you follow this route you will see results and feel satisfaction. Like a veil being lifted, you will be able to see the path you must follow and pretty soon you will be tackling with great ease and elegance the piece that seemed so hard a while back. As always, if you need some advice as to the material you should be pursuing, or what book you should get, feel free to drop me a line.

Words To Describe Some One

How To Play Country Lead Guitar

In the late nineteen thirties a cowboy musician called Bob Willis introduced the electric guitar to his audiences. Nobody knows whether they noticed this historic innovation but ten years later a whole generation sat up and took notice when Arthur Smith released his recording of "Guitar Boogie". This hit instrumental established the electric guitar as a musical force to be reckoned with. While the world of rock and roll moved to the music of Stratocasters it took a while for country musicians to move from the more restrained tones of the Gretsch archtop to the more "biting" Fender sound.

Many guitarists play their country solos on the Fender Telecaster with a Fender tube "Twin", Super Reverb or Deluxe Reverb amplifier. On the other hand, if they are on a tight budget they have been known to settle for a Peavey tube amp. One piece of equipment you will not need is the whammy bar. It is not used in playing country music.

In contrast to other musical genres that use the electric guitar, country music does not employ a wide variety of electronic effects in guitar solos. Alot of country guitar players use a strictly clean sound, maybe sprucing the music up with a little reverberation. The only effect consistently utilized by country guitar soloists is compression which enforces limits on the sound waves produced by the guitar. This effect enhances the volume of the softer notes, and slightly mutes the louder notes. This makes the overall volume seem more even.

Words To Describe Some OneWhen it comes to technique you can start off as a flatpicker but many country guitar players will use a thumbpick in combination with the index and ring finger. This naturally increases your level of versatility more than somewhat. There is a technique called "chicken pickin" which involves popping the guitar strings with your fingers. It is a little hard to describe in writing but you can see plenty of examples on YouTube, but to get the general idea, try this experiment: hold your right hand over the guitar strings, then mute your E (sixth) string by resting your index finger on it down towards the bridge. Next, pluck the string with your thumb. This will give you a "thuck" sound. To complete the chicken pickin move, pluck the open string with the nail of your index finger. This move is repeated until it comes naturally.

Country solo playing can easily beg 1000 in in the first position on the guitar. When you begin to play country guitar solos just play over the chords. Do not go looking for a "country scale", although the blues scale is quite handy in country guitar playing. The trick is to practice with whatever chord shapes you have at your stage of playing and see what kind of riffs, licks and tricks you can get out of each of them. It is a very interesting way to learn because every chord has its unique character. Start with your basic chords like C, D, E, G, and A.

So if you want to learn to play country guitar solos which guitar players do you listen to? Listening to Chet Atkins will teach alot to a guitarist in any genre. He is largely responsible for the smooth Nashville sound which is so attractive to many music lovers. Chet owes his style to Merle Travis, using his thumb to pick bass notes and other fingers to play the melody and fills. And do not forget to look for music recorded by Merle Travis himself. Another guitar great is Jerry Reed. A guitarist with boundless energy and enthusiasm, he played on the Elvis Presley single of his own compositions "Guitar Man" and "US Male". This list could go on and on, so let us finish by mentioning Albert Lee, a British guitar player admired by many other famous guitarists.

Describes Your Speaking Voice

Can you pick one word from the following list that describes your voice?

High-pitched, whiny, nasal, hoarse, throaty, gravelly, scratchy, whispery, soft, loud, strident, shrill, thick, thin, young-sounding, old-sounding, muddy, chirpy, raspy, tight, mumbling, wispy.

If just one of those words is descriptive of how you sound, you might want to consider voice training because the words that describe a good speaking voice are not found in that list.

Those words would be warm, rich, deep, resonant.

Imagine walking into a room and commanding the attention of the group just by the sound of your speaking voice. George Clooney can do it and so can Elizabeth Hurley.

Unfortunately most people cannot do that. Not because they don’t possess the instrument, but because they don’t know how to use it properly. Those who have had good training learn how to power their sound by means of their chest cavity. Once that happens, they will feel the vibrations in their mid-chest region when they speak.

Your first step, then, should you wish to pursue voice training is to do your research and find someone who will teach how to use your chest as your primary sounding board. That should be your number one priority.

Describes Your Speaking VoiceStay away from those who want to give you various different exercises to fix whatever adjective describes your voice. Aside from mumbling, lockjaw and excessive nasality, the rest of those other descriptive ‘qualities’ will be gone once you place your voice properly. If you are hoarse or have a scratchy voice, for example, you may be suffering from vocal abuse. Allow your chest to power your voice and you will be eliminating the wear and tear on your vocal cords; thus, vocal abuse will be no more. If you are soft-spoken, on the other hand, once you place your voice in your chest, your volume will automatically increase.

Your second step is to make your ‘real’ voice a habit. When I was in graduate school, one of my professors showed me my ‘real’ speaking voice and I consistently working at using that lower, richer sound. After graduate school, my voice got me the jobs I wanted because I sounded mature - not too old, not too young.

Improving the sound of your speaking voice is a wonderful means of increasing your self-esteem. You will most definitely sound better; you will probably look better; and there is no doubt that you will feel better about yourself!

Birth Evolution Of The Internet

The first form of Internet which was developed years ago was way different from the internet we are using today. Internet has taken many forms during its evolution. Many new innovations has been introduced in the Internet since then – And hence today we are experiencing the Internet which is more sophisticated and brims with higher speed, greater reliability, and larger bandwidth. Here’s a brief description of birth evolution of the Internet:

ARPANET – The very first form of Internet
ARPA is a research organization which was formed by the then U.S. President Eisenhower. One of the founding purposes of ARPA was to provide a combined platform to the researchers, scientists, and university students to come up with a solution for a better command-and-control network. The ARPA director Larry Roberts combined all the researchers and asked them to come up with a design solution for a network which could survive even the nuclear war. The need was deeply felt because the then existing military networks were not reliable. A research scientist Wesley Clark finally proposed a solution which was based on an interconnection of computers to form a subnet. The idea was bought by ARPA and the director of ARPA, Larry Roberts assigned the contract to implement the design to BBN, a consulting firm. BBN implemented the design by connecting minicomputers with 56kbps transmission lines and the birth of first ever internet took place.

internet evolution1980s and the 1990s – Crucial Decades in the Evolution of Internet
During 1980s, many more computers were connected to the initial ARPANET and the network grew and covered almost all of the U.S. The ARPANET connected different universities to help communication between the researchers and students. To get connected to ARPANET an institute had to take a license from the DoD (U.S. Department of Defense). It was a long process and not every institute was eligible to get the license. So, NSF (the U.S. National Science Foundation) decided to design a network which was open for all the universities to join. This network was implemented using the hardware as the ARPANET used but software was slightly different. The network was named NSFNET.
A lot of research was also done on the protocols being used in the internet and finally a protocol was designed which could cater to multiple types of connections. The protocol was called TCP/IP. With the arrival of TCP/IP the network grew overwhelmingly.

The genesis of WWW
By the 1990s, the internet was being used by academic and research institutes only. A new technology named World Wide Web was invented by CERN physicist Tim Berners – Lee. The WWW brought a whole new revolution in the Internet and the Internet became extremely popular among non-academic users as well. Much of this progress was fuelled by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) which enabled the users to get connected to internet from their homes.

Discover Another Eerie Travel Secret - An American Giving Concerts in an Ice Cave on Instruments made of Ice. The Tunes Ring Clear, Cold and Tender, Like a Touch on a Thin Glass Vase.

Innocently we swing on our skiers off the top of the Schnaltaler glacier- 3212 meter above sea level, and just 200m away from the top ski-lift exit we see a small snow-heap pointing to an attaction on a flag: ICE MUSIC - whereby the "I" is shown as a musical-key. So we stop and take off our skis, walk into a cave - past a plastic-bucket, on which a hand-written sign asks the visitors for a donation of 5 Euros. Since we don’t really know what the donation is supposed to be for, we just ignore the bucket and find ourselves in an Odeon. Around 35 toursits stand there in klirring cold in their skiing suits and heavy boots- some styropore cushions are supposed to keep our behinds warm when we sit down. Everything in here is made of either snow or ice. The walls, the bar, the stage, and - the musical instruments.

Tim Linhard from Colorado is the only human on the planet making acoustical musical string instruments out of ice and giving concerts with them, right up there on top of the mountain and glacier. A violin, a chello, guitars, even drums and other percussion instruments and a xylophone.

Beethoven on Ice in SouthernEach instrument is lit from the inside and shimmers in changing lights between red, green or blue. To be precice - the strings of the instruments are of steel, and the neck and chin-holder made of wood. The bows are made of the usual materials - whatever they may be - in normal instruments.

We need to wait a little because the violin has a piece of ice broken off and must be fixed. Soon enough they start to play, and like magic the tunes come. One tourist couple is swaying to the music in a tight embrace, the tunes are absolutely clear - but somehow "cold". Tim says, "the longer we play, the better the sound becomes. Playing is like a massage to these instruments - the ice kind of relaxes in its tension. This requires a certain and more flexible playing technique, and the tone become ever softer as we go on."

Next - Tim plays the ice-flute - he is wearing rubber gloves - the kind that you wear for washing up - the "glaciophone" sounds as if drops were falling into an underground lake. It is eerie and makes the fine hair on my under-arms stand up - so strange; surprisingly, the walls of the cave- although shining - are dry - you cannot even see the breath of the people, although it’s so cold, about minus 5 degress Celsius.

It’s certainly the best fridge of the world and the best place to store those musical instruments.

In case you’d like to imitate this idea, better be prepared. Tim started his experiments with ice-violins in 1982 - the sites were too strong, and the instrument burst into 1000 pieces.

Meanwhile, Ice Music determines Tim’s life - he even played in front of the Swedish Rolyal couple once and produced some CD’s. 20 volunteers are helping Tim in his endeavour; for 4 months they work 16 hours per day in the Ice-Theater. Anita Stange-Mantovani is one of them, an independent violin-builder from Munich is fine-tuning her ice-Stradivari - and she is responsible for static and measurement of all instruments. She takes her annual leave to help Tim with his glacier-project, without getting a penny - just like the other 19 people.

Sure as hell we are so fascinated when we leave the cave, that we forget to throw some money into the plastic- bucket when leaving. No wonder Tim is fighting with his finances - he should take a marketing-consultant.

To find your way to the Ice Music cave - travel via Innsbruck (Austria) to Meran, there in direction of Reschenpass (Zemez), and shortly after Naturns go left to the Schnalstaler Glacier Lift-Station. It’s about 70km distance from Meran.

The author, Brigitta Vetter, is publishing the site eerietravelsecrets.com where you can find further stories about travels off the beaten path in Europe as well as overseas.
